1 February 2025

The User Trial of the AAMVS has started. It aims to evaluate the useability of the AAMVS with potential users from states importing or exporting weapons and ammunition, as mandated by EU Council Decision CFSP 2022/2275. The trial aims to evaluate the system in realistic scenarios, allowing for necessary adjustments before submission end of 2025. Key focus areas are the self-assessment tool and the import/export processes it supports.

Target Users:

The trial will engage potential users from export licensing agencies, import control authorities, and supporting agencies involved in implementing national transfer control legislation, such as small arms commissions. A diverse group, including both exporters and importers, will participate to ensure broad representation and a comprehensive understanding of how to use the tool.

Timeline:

The trial will run from February to June 2025.
