GICHD-AMAT organised a side event during the 10th Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) titled “A practical example of interagency cooperation process: Learning from the AAMVS pilots” took place on Thursday, 22 August 2024, with the aim of introducing the AAMVS project and sharing key findings from its pilot phase. Three ATT States Parties—Ghana, Liberia, and Czechia— participated, sharing their experiences with the self-assessment tool. They discussed how the tool supported the bilateral exchange of information on stockpile management capabilities for diversion risk assessments, offering insights from both the importer and exporter perspectives.
The event highlighted the practical application of interagency cooperation, showing how the tool can be used by both importing and exporting agencies. It also showcased the potential of the AAMVS self-assessment tool to help evaluate an end-user’s ability to prevent diversion during the post-delivery phase, ultimately aiding States Parties in strengthening their implementation of the ATT.
